Learner Profile: Retail
- The opportunity for learners to gain a nationally recognised vocationally specific qualification to enter employment in the Retail sector or to progress to further and higher education vocational qualifications such as the Edexcel Level 3 BTEC National Diploma in Hospitality and Catering
- The opportunity for learners to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for successful performance in working life.
The EdExcel First Certificate in Retail provides a broad educational base for further training, further education and employment within the Retail sector. The units chosen will include a study of the Retail industry and the opportunity to develop customer service and retail experience. Further units will be chosen from areas such as Distribution and storage, Stock Control, Fashion retail. Practical experience will be provided in the recently develop College retail shop and their will be links with local employers. The assessment will be based on assignments completed in class.
Having completed a BTEC First Certificate, learners will be ideally placed to progress onto a range of courses post 16 as they will have received a thorough grounding in the knowledge and skills needed.
